About the
Course
Hong Kong has seen a great
interest in Yoga recently. Busy health professionals may not have
the time to join regular classes or even feel confused in face of a
large number of different styles and approaches to Yoga.
The Centre on Behavioral Health
has invited a highly acclaimed Yoga Master, Swami Vidyanand to
specially design and conduct a 10-session course best suited for
everyday urban living in Hong Kong to deal with the stresses and
challenges that block us from living a full and balanced
life.
Content
This basic
course in 'The Yoga of Transformational Living' will train
participants in simple yogic exercises for the
body, emotions,
mind and spirit that they can
integrate into their daily living - so as to live in balance and
harmony within themselves and with others. In addition to the
theoretical concepts behind the Science of Yoga, the course
will emphasise the practical aspects by empowering
participants to put the methods to daily use and directly experience
the benefits.
At the end of the course,
participants will have gained the following:
-
Fitness programme: a flexible and creative half-hour routine of
physical and breathing exercises.
-
Emotion management techniques: ways to apply consciousness and energy to
deal with negative emotions.
-
Mental focus and alertness: quick and effective exercises to increase
concentration, clarity of thought and memory retention.
-
Re-vitalising energy levels: Methods to regain energy depleted through
mental and physical exertion.
-
Centering and sourcing: Developing a deeper (spiritual) meaning and
purpose to life.
Health
professionals and social workers will find the course particularly
relevant as the techniques can be applied further in their own
clinical work with clients. They may refer clients as
well.
